The two types of medallions above were sold as a souvenirs and not vended from the stamper.
We've heard that these coins, because of the large center image, could not be used in the machines.
We have not seen them offer for sale for years.

These medallions are of course not elongated coins, but lots of you have asked about them. And hey, they are "stamped"! 
Stamping a personal message to commemorate a special event or thought to a loved one on these 1692 replica pieces of eight coins was a long time tradition for many Disneyland Guests. When at the park, they would make sure to stop by the Pieces of Eight Shop in New Orleans Square and type out the date of their visit, a birthday greeting, their wedding anniversary year or some mushy-kissy-love note. Every time they visited the park.
Then the machine disappeared. It was gone for years! Many people searching Google found ParkPennies.com, poor souls. They asked us what became of the machine, when it would be back. We told them when it’s back, we’d be happy to post the news. We waited and waited. Today, we are happy to say it’s back. We don’t know for how long it will be with us this time. So, do take advantage of this long awaited opportunity.
Above are a few pictures of these really cool Disneyland souvenirs. (The bottom medallion is a limited brass or "Golden Piece of Eight" from Walt Disney World. I wanted you to see it because we do not have an example of a similar Golden Piece of Eight that was given to a few select Cast Members at Disneyland some years ago.)
We know of the examples shown plus one Disneyland brass or golden coin. (We’re looking for a scan of that rascal!)

Relative Cost - Low except for "Golden" issues.
Closed or Open - Other variations of this medallion are possible in the future.
Note - These souvenirs have commemorated memories for Disneyland Guests for many years. They are really outside of the scope of our web site. We hope someone with more knowledge of them will make them the subject of a definitive reference.
