The Disneyland elongated coin Test Roll Variation Reference Guide features coins with extraordinary, never on stage production variations.

In many cases, test rolls pass unnoticed as they often do not vary from the examples we all see at the park, save that they are commonly rolled long or short. However, test rolls that differ or vary from the final coin design, such as these, have earned a separate guide as they are sure to catch the eye of many Advanced Collectors.

Long time elongated coin collectors know that test rolls are made from most all dies as part of normal die production or set up. Also, that the test rolls are sometimes made to proof engravings, set up dies or match obverse / reverse die sets. Of importance to ParkPennies readers is that some test coins pressed are variations of the on-stage coins. These variations can include "progressive" coins pressed while a die is being engraved in steps or coins that display only one half of a obverse and reverse die set. (We believe all coins with back stamps were first pressed without back stamps. Not, that examples of every coin exist or can be found.)

Although a few test rolls are made from most all dies sometime in their production, Disney test rolls have seldom if ever been seen by the general collecting community. Matter of fact, the initial listings to this guide were not made until late in 2006 following our research of then recent public coin (eBay) auctions.
