Interviews and research by R. Hoff support the
conclusion that these dies were engraved penny size in error, they were meant for use in the
Disneyland nickel machine.
The small penny sized die images left an unacceptable blank space
at the end of the rolled coin. Corrected dies were ordered and then the
machine was placed on-stage.
It is
estimated that approximately 7 Mickeys, 10 40th Anniversary and 5 Minnie’s were made. Examples also are known
to exist on cents.

This is an example of an extremely scarce off-denomination or cent variation of the DN0019. It was pressed by the incorrectly cut DN0019 penny-sized nickel die. See also DN0019, DL0058 and DL0058a.
