If your goal is to build a Disneyland Park pressed penny collection of every pressed penny or elongated coin from every penny press machine ever inside Disneyland Park, this is it! The DL Disneyland Pressed Penny Guide describes in detail the entire pressed penny collection of every known elongated coin ever offered to regular guests inside the gates of Disneyland Park. It is The Pure Disneyland Park Elongated Coin Collection. Elongated coins from outside the gates of Disneyland, such as the coins in the Disneyland Park Resort area, Disney's California Adventure, the resort hotels etc., are not part of this collection and are part of other pressed penny collecting guides here at ParkPennies.com.
As you can see by the three elongated coin examples above, it is an interesting group! When you have collected all the pressed coins in The Disneyland Park Collection, you will have the first penny, the first nickel, the first dime and the first quarter ever in any Disney park anywhere in the world. You will have coins that marked anniversaries, birthdays, celebrations, movies, animated features, Disney characters and more. Not only are they the first, the oldest and the originals, they are collected by some very nice people all over the world. Me too!
All the elongated coins or "pressed pennies" in this collection are or were available to the general admission guests, inside the main gates of the park, usually via a penny press machine, since the first penny machine placement in 1987 to the present. Some of these coins were not on-stage long, a few are error coins, some are slight variations of others. Every denomination of pressed coin is represented and with very few exceptions, every one of them could be or could have been purchased for a dollar or less, most for 51 cents. (A Penny Collector First Edition book, also known as The First Edition Pressed Penny Book, was issued in 2000 featuring an exclusive coin in the cover of the book. Cost $7.50 at the park.) The Cast Member and Special Events elongated coins which may have been available to guests with a special ticket or invitation are not included. The very hard to find Prototype elongated coins by definition were not ever in the park and so are listed separately also.
If you are reading this article when written, around 2005, the time of Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary, there are currently about 328 coins in the complete collection and they aren’t that hard to find... yet. Even the ones from back in the 1900’s are still for the most part, commonly available. You can press the current coins in the park for a dollar or less, easily trade for them with other collectors or you might even see them at a Disneyana show or an on-line auction for a few dollars. Today, if you have to purchase any of the "hardest to find coins" in this set, the cost would most likely be a few hundred dollars or less each. Luckily, there aren’t currently many really hard to find coins in this set.1
Note: If you’d like to start out with a smaller group and then maybe work toward the complete Disneyland Park set, you might investigate these sub-sets:

1ParkPennies appreciates that collecting Disneyland pressed pennies can be and one may say, is best enjoyed, when done with an investment of time, adventure and fun rather than the investment of cold cash. However, as time passes many of these coins have and probably will continue to become harder to find or afford.
So NOW is a great time to start!
